Alex Zamora, PhD Part-Time Faculty, Department of Marriage and Family Sciences, Social Work program Dr. Alex Zamora's diverse professional career led him to NCU's MSW program in January 2019. He earned his MSW, with a clinical concentration, and PhD in educational leadership from Northwest Nazarene University. Additionally, he obtained a graduate certificate in PACs and political management from George Washington University. Dr. Zamora also completed post-graduate training both in school counseling and school administration, and is currently taking classes towards a K-12 superintendent endorsement. A licensed clinical social worker in Idaho, Dr. Zamora works full time as a K-12 administrator, serving as a district director of virtual learning, curriculum, and professional development. He also serves as a PRN medical social worker for a local hospital. As an educator in higher ed., NCU aside, Dr. Zamora worked in the psychology department of a local community college, primarily teaching a course on the psychology of death and dying. Nationally, Dr. Zamora has volunteered with various professional organizations, including on the Steering Committee for the Council of Social Work Education's development of the Curricular Guide on Licensure and Regulation. He has also volunteered with the Association of Social Work Boards on the Practice Analysis Taskforce and is trained as an item writer for this organization. At NCU, Dr. Zamora teaches Introduction of Social Work, Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Professional Practice with Individuals and Families, Leadership in Social Work Practice, and Advanced Social Work in Medical Practice. In addition to his professional commitments, Dr. Zamora remains actively engaged in his community. He serves on the board of directors for his local YMCA association. He was appointed by the now-former Idaho governor to the board of the Idaho Children's Trust Fund, and in December 2019, the current Idaho governor appointed him to the board of Social Work Examiners. In his city, Dr. Zamora was recently appointed as a commissioner for the Planning and Zoning Commission. For fun, Dr. Zamora likes to claim he is a runner, despite not having run regularly for some time. He enjoys spending time with his family, albeit virtually and physically distant these days. At the end of this past July, Dr. Zamora opened a private business; a boutique wine shop focused on highlighting Idaho wines. 4
