Student Advisory Council (SAC)
Did you know the NCU Department of Psychology has a Student Advisory Council (SAC)? This council
is comprised of a student leadership team, including a president, vice president, and co-secretaries.
In addition to the student leaders, there are also active student members, a faculty liaison, and the
psychology department chair, Dr. Bettina Shapira. The SAC is tasked with providing input, suggestions,
and student feedback, as needed, to inform decisions about curriculum, programming, and the student
experience as it relates to the Department of Psychology. The SAC prides itself in promoting inclusion,
diversity, and the unique perspectives of our student body in enhancing the overall student experience.
Overseen by Faculty Liaison Dr. Mary Streit, our current student leadership team includes: President:
(To Be Announced), Vice President: Shelley Gates, Co-Secretaries: Joni Keith and Aletha Clark. In
addition, periodically, the board looks for new student members who would be interested in joining
our team. If you have interest in participating, you want to be certain that you are able to attend these
regular bi-monthly meetings, and you should have at least a year left before you graduate to be
eligible. So, look out for our updates coming soon to the Commons, or feel free to reach our faculty
point of contact Dr. Streit, at mstreit@ncu.edu with any further questions.
