JANUARY Over 100 students, alumni, faculty, and staff came together for NCU's inaugural community gathering, NCU Sails. Students and alumni participated in two-three workshops on each sailing day, with over 30 participants in each session, as well as an academic summit and Faculty Senate retreat. Largest Dissertation Completion Intensive hosted to date, with 33 students in attendance. First Dissertation Completion Pathway student successfully defended her dissertation. Hosted our 13th Dissertation Boot Camp in Phoenix. More than 75 students and alumni joined our first NCU alumni event of 2020 in Phoenix. MARCH Staff in La Jolla and Scottsdale transitioned to work from home as the pandemic shuttered offices. Faculty in the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy started virtual support groups for people affected by the pandemic. The Commons experienced the busiest month of engagement and activity to date. Hosted our first virtual Dissertation Completion Pathway Intensive. The Alumni Association launched NCU Alumni app. NCU stepped up to support graduate students affected by the closure of Concordia University - Portland. By March 21, 321 Concordia-Portland students had enrolled at NCU. FEBRUARY NCU launched a chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success for our students. NCU hosted CSWE in La Jolla, CA for a site visit for the Master of Social Work program. The School of Health Sciences graduated its first Master of Health Administration student. APRIL The School of Undergraduate Studies launched to support those completing their bachelor's degrees. The Center for the Advancement of Virtual Organizations launched in record time to meet the moment, as millions of people pivoted to a virtual work environment. Health Administration programs received initial candidacy from accreditor CAHME, the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education. The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences' new sport psychology program received approval from Association for Applied Sport Psychology. NCU dedicated $350,000 in aid for students affected by COVID-19. 24 students in the MS and PhD data science program in the School of Technology completed an analysis, interpretation, and presentation of responses to a COVID-19 survey created and deployed by InfraGard, in partnership with the FBI.
