MAY NCU makes a public statement about values – Values Matter: At NCU, we oppose racism, sexism, xenophobia, and intolerance of all kinds. We value knowledge and understanding, science and reason, empathy and tolerance. In partnership with NUS, launched a 16-hour professional development training series for Rady Children's Hospital San Diego. Announced that NCU would absorb the JD, BA Legal Studies, and paralegal programs from JFK University. School of Business recognized with ACBSP Silver Achievement Award. JULY 85 additional Concordia-Portland students enrolled at NCU. About 115 students attended the first session in the virtual Dissertation Preparedness Series. NCU submitted responses to WSCUC's Lines of Inquiry and plans for the August, September, and October trainings finalized. Produced the first annual giving report summarizing the impact of gifts received in fiscal year 2020. SEPTEMBER Board of Trustees approved a $4.9 million investment in NCU. The Institutional Review Board launched a revamped website and its first newsletter. The Native and Indigenous Collective Collection group was formed in The Commons. The University Diversity Committee hosted its first book club, reading Just Mercy. Received the Delphi Award from the Pullias Center for Higher Education at USC in partnership with the AAC&U. The Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness completed the Disability Services Review. The Commons NCUOne widget went live with updates to the NCUOne homepage. NOVEMBER School of Social and Behavioral Sciences participated in a virtual COAMFTE site visit. The La Casa de NCU group was formed in The Commons. The Alumni Association sponsored a webinar, "Breaking Through the Academic Barrier: Landing a Teaching Job in Higher Ed." JUNE The Black, Brown, and African American Connection group was formed in The Commons. Over 200 members joined within the first three weeks. Georges Bellangue defended his dissertation to become the School of Technology's first doctoral graduate. 100 people attended the School of Business' inaugural Mini- Research Expo. CAVO hosted a free micro-conference, "Considerations for Virtual Work," for over 100 attendees. The School of Business formed a partnership with the American Women's Business Association. The Association for Behavior Analysis International informed NCU that our applied behavior analyst program meets all the educational requirements for graduates to sit for the national certification exam to become a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. Ended the fiscal year with almost 670 more students than the previous June. AUGUST Over 1,800 households logged in to virtually participate in NCU's first-ever virtual Commencement Ceremony. In the months since, the ceremony has been viewed over 16,000 times. NCU Virtual Business Incubator launched in the Commons. Trechaun Gonzalez received the inaugural President's Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship made in partnership with Rio Salado Community College. OCTOBER The Master of Social Work program recognized its first graduate. NCU welcomed the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) review team for a Reaffirmation of Accreditation virtual visit. MHA student Aimee Jareugui-Cruz received the 2020-2021 Bugbee-Falk Award from the Association of University Programs in Health Administration. JFK School of Law went live with enrollments for January 2021 start. DECEMBER The Inspired by Faith group was formed in The Commons. Giving Tuesday effort raised over $10,000 for NCU students. For the first time ever, NCU closed for a week to give the entire university a time for relaxation and reflection on an exceptionally challenging, busy, and successful year. STUDENT CENTRIC.
