Lisa Teeter, PhD Full-Time Facult y, Department of Psychology Program Lead – Industrial/Organizational Psychology Dr. Teeter began teaching at NCU in 2015 as an adjunct professor and transitioned to full-time faculty in 2017. She earned her PhD and MS in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. She also earned a BA in Psychology and English from Albion College in Albion, MI. Upon completing her PhD, she worked for several years in human resources consulting in the US and abroad where she focused on the assessment, selection, and development of employees across job types and industries. Specifically, as a Research Consultant, she focused on conducting and applying research to develop and validate pre-employment assessments. She also focused on employing technology in innovative ways to enhance selection and development programs as well as helping to diagnose and resolve performance issues, measure and enhance employee engagement, and study and promote effective networking practices. Dr. Teeter teaches a wide range of courses in the Department of Psychology, and her favorites are Foundations in I/O Psychology (PSY-5401), Tests and Measurements (PSY-5404/PSY-7116), Applied Statistics (PSY-5110/PSY-5111/PSY-7117) and Work Motivation and Attitudes (PSY-8409). In addition, Dr. Teeter is the internship coordinator for the I/O program and she loves supporting students as they gain experience applying I/O principles and research in an organizational setting. She also enjoys developing curriculum for MS and PhD I/O courses. Dr. Teeter's research interests span both industrial and organizational psychology content areas, including: job applicant reactions and candidate job choice decisions, recruitment, person-environment fit, organizational stress, work/family balance, emotions in the workplace, and employee well-being. Dr. Teeter currently lives in a suburb of Indianapolis, IN. She grew up in Detroit, MI and has moved numerous times (8 times since 2009!), living in several states across the midwest and southeastern US as well as in Birmingham, England. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and three children. They love traveling together (pre-COVID, of course) to visit family and friends in AZ, FL, and MI as well as participating in outdoor activities like boating, fishing, running, and swimming.
