CAVO WELCOMES ITS FIRST
VISITING EXPERT
By Melody Rawlings, Director, CAVO
As the Center for the Advancement of Virtual Organizations continues to grow, we're launching a new feature: the virtual expert.
Starting this spring, we'll host a leader from the virtual business world to share their expertise with the NCU community.
Our first expert is Catherine Mattiske. An authority on virtual teams, Catherine is the founder and CEO of TPC, a thought-leader for
corporate learning and development, and inventor of the globally acclaimed instructional design system, ID9 Intelligent Design. In
2006, she began transforming her organization from local offices to a global, virtual business. Now, conducting business virtually
is TPC's most significant competitive advantage.
Catherine is CAVO's visiting expert through April and will share her knowledge and expertise through podcasts, blog, and
interviews. Listen to Catherine's words of wisdom in CAVO podcast episodes 20 and 27.
We're also fortunate that Catherine will be the keynote speaker for the CAVO virtual conference, happening June 15 – 17. Look for
more information about the conference on the CAVO website and coming to your inbox this spring.

Learning Assistance Review. They discuss the results of an early intervention that was developed at NCU to support new students.
Drs. Babcock and Lehan also worked with AVP for Planning and Institutional Effectiveness, Heather Hussey, on an article in
Open Praxis. The article explores how Academic Success Center staff developed and improved an assessment protocol as part
of NCU's overall assessment plan.

Drs. Lehan and Hussey published a chapter in Incorporating Diversity in Classroom Settings: Real and Engaging Examples
for Various Psychology Courses (Vol 2: Intersectionality), edited by M. S. Wong, L. Weiner, J. Cerniak, and L. T. S. Yee. These
activities can help individuals understand and appreciate diversity, cultivate a critical mind to analyze the role of sociocultural
factors, and develop the knowledge and skills that will allow them to act ethically and responsibly in a diverse world.
Director of Community Relations and Events Samantha Wilcox shared her best practices for live, virtual event management
with Authority Magazine.
