By Claire Demarco, Director, CTL The Center for Teaching and Learning's resource center for students is moving from The Commons platform to Springshare Suites (LibGuides). This move will allow students to move seamlessly through the different resource centers available to them at NCU: The Library, Academic Success Center, and IRB. The new center is broken down into learning topics, making it easy for students to find all the resources they need in one place. Webinars are available in topic- related playlists. With one click, students can access The Commons and The Commons event calendar, and vice versa. The new CTL platform gives students the ability to contact the CTL to ask questions or get support by email, web form, text, and live chat. Students will now have the choice to use on-demand resources, asynchronous personalized support, and synchronous personalized support. Check out the new CTL today at ncu.libguides.com/ctl. University Alumni Navigators are Here The Center for Teaching and Learning is excited to welcome four new University Alumni Navigators: Dr. Calvin Gardner, Dr. Gary Walker-Roberts, Dr. Sammy Galvao, and Dr. Torian Salary. All four navigators are NCU doctoral alumni who graduated in the last two years. The navigators will be working part time, mainly evenings and weekends, to support students who need help "navigating" their NCU experience, or who simply need a motivational boost from someone who has been in their shoes. All four alums are excited to give back, and thrilled to be part of the NCU team as employees. The navigators will be supporting students in a variety of different ways. They'll be active in The Commons, connecting with students who need additional support and guidance. They'll be available for one-on-one support, either asynchronously or through live chat, and they will host regular workshops on essential student skills, using their own experience as students to choose topics. Students can contact our new navigators and view chat hours in the Center for Teaching and Learning. Did you know that Microsoft offers accessibility checkers in most of its software? It's easy and helps ensure those with vision impairments or learning disabilities can read your document or presentation.
