REMEMBERING CHARLES "CHUCK" WEST
NOVEMBER 6, 1953 - DECEMBER 20, 2020
We want to share the sad news that Chuck passed away at the end of last year. Chuck was one of
the founding members of the NCU Marriage and Family Therapy program. He joined the
department in 2011 and significantly contributed to the goal of pioneering the first professionally-
respected, programmatically-accredited online MFT training program in the world.
During his time at NCU, he served as the MFT director of curriculum and the MFT director of clinical
training. He was known as our in-house expert on state licensure questions, and diligently maintained
these records. His influence on the field of MFT cannot be overstated. He mentored hundreds of MFT
students throughout his career, and served as a supervising mentor to those seeing AAMFT-Approved
Supervisor status. Many of you probably interacted with him as the faculty mentor to your interns, as he
maintained five NCU supervision groups for the last few years.
While the NCU community is saddened by this loss, we are grateful to have had him in our lives. We will
remember to make "good trouble" and to channel our "inner Chuck."
