Faculty Teaching Guide – Faculty Survey Results
Background
The Faculty Teaching Guide (FTG) is a document composed by the subject matter expert
(SME) during the course development process. After hearing mixed messages from faculty
about the FTG, a short survey was developed to capture faculty perspectives.
Deployment and response rate
160 SSBS faculty were invited to complete the survey; 33% responded. Numerous faculty
reported finding the survey in their junk mail box. A separate email was sent to faculty
who had not responded, asking them to check their junk mail. A few administrative faculty
reported they were not going to complete the survey because they did not currently teach
any courses. 54 faculty completed the survey: 28 MFT, 2 MSW, 24 PSY
Who is aware of the FTG?
47 faculty reported that they were familiar with the survey. Only 3 MFT and 4 PSY faculty
said they were not familiar. Six who were not familiar were part-time faculty.
How often is the FTG used?
The responses were evenly split when it came to using the FTG. 50% said they never use it
and 50% reported using it at least sometimes.
