4 Krista Speicher, PhD, LMFT Full-Time Facult y, Department of Marriage and Family Sciences Dr. Krista Speicher began teaching at NCU as an adjunct in 2020 and transitioned to a full-time faculty role in 2021. She earned her DMFT from Argosy University, Denver and her MSW from Columbia University's School of Social Work. She has served as a faculty and department chair at previous educational institutions, where she was an integral part of enhancing student experience and curriculum. As a student, she experienced both the "brick and mortar" and online learning methods. She understands how challenging it can be for students transitioning to learning in a remote setting, but also the opportunities this learning method affords. A priority of hers is to provide support and encouragement through this transition in order to enhance the learning experience, help students to achieve their goals, and bring change to their communities. As a faculty member, Dr. Speicher teaches in the Social Work program as well as the master's and doctoral MFT programs. Her research interests include adolescent and mentor relationships, transgenerational inheritance related to grief and loss, and addiction and families. Outside of her role at NCU, she serves as an accreditation reviewer for COAMFTE, is the AAMFT Family TEAM Chair for the state of Colorado, and provides supervision and consultation to therapists and colleagues. She loves the diversity of experience each of these roles brings. Dr. Speicher lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband, two sons, and two dogs. In her free time, she enjoys doing triathlons, surfing, traveling, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.
