Associate Directors of Facult y Support and Development, SSBS
Our colleagues have shared some important teaching tips with us. First, Patti
reminds us that we need to reflect on our self-care before we even attempt to be
great teachers. How are you promoting your own well-being? Jenna discusses the
importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for students to learn.
How do each of you create this space for your students? Last, Melissa shares tips
to help students develop personally and academically: ask students to be both
thinkers and feelers, allow students to connect theories to the real world, remind
students not to put the cart before the horse, and create a supportive environment.
Our one-to-one model allows us to regularly check in with students to see how they
are experiencing our class and to help them grow as professionals. Thank you all
for sharing these wonderful tips!
Do you have an approach, strategy, or idea you think others would find useful or
interesting? Please share! You can send your ideas to Maria (mrodriguez@ncu.
edu) or Siva (sperera@ncu.edu) and we would be happy to include them in an
upcoming faculty newsletter. Thanks!

UPDATES
Yulia Watters, PhD
Curriculum Director, SSBS
Dear Faculty,
Recently, an additional form has been added to the existing curriculum feedback
forms HERE.
This form is specifically designed to gather faculty feedback following the release of
a new or revised course. It helps to see the course through the eyes and experience
of teaching faculty and either make some additional changes to the course that was
just made live or mention additional information in the faculty teaching guide (FTG
- located in NCUOne in the Faculty Resource section) that would help all faculty to
be aware of specific aspects of the course that might present some challenges.
