While most of the growth will happen in the traditional supervision experience (case report, showing observable data, clinical issues arising, and continued time "doing"), there may be some instances in which a formal support or remediation plan would be helpful. The NCU MAMFT Clinical Administrative Training Team has the following process when a more specific intervention is required. There are two distinct types of interventions, clinical development and clinical intensive support, with two tiers: one-on-one or full committee. The type and level of contact required will depend on the specific situation the student is experiencing. There is a similar referral process for both processes in that any NCU faculty supervisor, local clinical supervisor, or site representative with concerns about a clinical student may refer them to the Clinical Administrative Training Team. It is expected that prior to a referral from the faculty supervisor, the faculty supervisor has discussed the concerns with the student. Once a referral is made, the Clinical Administrative Training Team discusses which intervention and tier is most appropriate. One member of the Clinical Administrative Training Team will email the student to set up a synchronous meeting. Documentation of the meeting and any action items will be provided based on the type of intervention completed. The below image shows the different interventions and tiers.
