4 Dear Colleagues, I hope this holiday season finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. In our last newsletter, I made the comment that our futures have become more certain. In many ways they have, but I also know some of you have our pending merger and transformation in the forefront of your thoughts. Now more than ever, our voices and input are important. If you are currently involved in a Transformation initiative, thank you for taking the time to go above and beyond your daily duties in the interest of our students. If you are not currently involved in an initiative and would like to be, please let one of your Senators know. We would be happy to help you get connected. If you would rather provide feedback anonymously, please feel free to utilize the Faculty Feedback form and we will share thoughts on your behalf. Everyone's voice is equally important, no matter which way it is presented – and any faculty member interested in being involved with this transformation is welcome to participate in the way they are most comfortable. Your senators are also involved and can help amplify your voices as we move forward with Transformation activities. A few ways your senators are currently involved in the Transformation process: • Along with three NU faculty members, Jacqueline Rogers, David Hildebrandt, and I sit on the Transformation Faculty Advisory Council. We meet with leadership from both NCU and NU monthly and are always encouraged to bring faculty feedback to the meeting. Please let us know if there is something we can present on your behalf. • We had one senator involved in the initial WASC call, with more slated for involvement in future accreditation processes. • We recently launched an ad hoc committee devoted to Transformation activities. One of our action items is a systematic effort to distribute senators across various workstreams and initiatives, so faculty are adequately represented across transformation activities. In addition to this involvement, I am in direct communication with the Transformation Office, School Deans, and Cabinet. Throughout my conversations, faculty input has been consistently well-received, so let's all answer the call to position our futures a united National as a success. As always, I look forward to working with all of you in the coming year on ways to holistically care for ourselves while improving the human condition. As 2021 comes to a close, please take some time to fully disconnect from technology to recharge and refresh for the coming year. I wish you and your loved ones a safe, happy, and healthy holiday and New Year. Stay well, Stephanie Menefee, PhD Faculty Senate Chair From the Chair Message
