As co-chairs of the NCU Psychological Association, we are pleased to bring you the NCUPA Winter Bulletin. In this issue, we start to focus on a culture of research at NCU. Our student co-editor describes her own experience conducting research at NCU. Two of our part-time faculty members, Dr. Patti Barrows and Dr. Itay Basevitch, describe their research experiences and interests. We hope that our new faculty research profiles will give you a greater understanding of different types of research within our discipline, as well as greater knowledge of our professors' areas of research. The SSBS Research Committee also shares updates on what they have been working on. We will focus on a hot topic each issue, and Dr. McNamara has written our first hot topic article about psychedelic medicine. We recently asked members of our Commons community whether they would ever consider using psychedelic medicine. Of 21 respondents, 7 people responded yes, 9 people responded no, and 5 people responded maybe. This is an exciting emerging field, and we should stay tuned for new research studies that will point to new psychological treatments in the future. This issue also includes an interview with a student who is enrolled in a Master's level internship course at NCU. Our students have the unique opportunity of practicing what they have learned through internships with direct site supervisors. Last, Dr. Shapira provides some good news about Dr. McNamara's Templeton Foundation grant. During Fall 2021, APA issued an apology to people of color for APA's role in promoting, perpetuating, and failing to challenge racism, racial discrimination, and human hierarchy in the U.S. This is an important resolution that you all should read here: https://www.apa.org/about/policy/racism-apology The NCUPA is YOUR association so we invite, request, and hope you will send in your ideas of how to make the Association more responsive to YOUR interests and needs. Please also reach out if you are interested in submitting an essay or interview for our next bulletin. Our email is ncupa@ncu.edu. Our Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/NCUPsychologyClub.
