There are numerous benefits to attending an online institution such as Northcentral University, and the things that
make us different are often the things that make us great. As adult learners, we are balancing commitments to
work, family, community, and school, and traditional methods of instruction are not always the most convenient.
NCU's one-to-one, asynchronous model (NCU, 2022) provides the flexibility of having the classroom be
when and where we need it most, whether at our kitchen table after preparing dinner or at a corner coffee
shop for a late-night buzz. The possible disadvantage comes with the disconnect from our fellow students and
faculty members. In this issue, it is my hope that our NCUPA readers will find a sense of connection through
this quarter's submissions, including faculty bio pieces offering a chance to get to know your instructors on a
more personal level, and student internship experiences highlighting what some of your peers are doing out
in the field. This issue will also focus on hot topics in research and what's happening with research at NCU.
