UPDATES
Yulia Watters, PhD
Curriculum Director, SSBS
The course development is now
happening following the timeframe of
four cycles (the first date is the kickoff
date, and the last date is the end of the
development cycle).
We are now finishing up courses in
the 2nd cycle and planning to kickoff
courses in the third cycle.
If you are planning to serve as a
Subject Matter Expert (SME), you
will receive an invitation to the kickoff
directly from the LXD. The Curriculum
Director is also invited to the kickoff and will organize the attendance of all the
constituents whose input is necessary for the successful course development (e.g.,
Program Lead, Program Director, Department Chair, Assessment Director, etc).
During the kickoff you will review the course development timeline, course
development schedule, vision for the course, and deliverables. All the courses are
currently developed following a 4 modules template. Each module might contain
one or more lessons (the word lesson is now used instead of weeks). Depending
on the agreement between the Curriculum Director and the SME, the course
development might take 16 weeks (Agile model) or 4 weeks (Rapid Intensive
model). Agile is the preferred model, while Rapid Intensive is an exception.
The course is developed using the Google Docs application, which allows
different parties to review the course and provide the feedback simultaneously.
While the SME will work closely with the LXD, the School Designees (such as
