For example, Bob's motto for meetings was that the best meeting is no longer than
15 minutes, preferably over the phone and not on camera. As you know, James is
very different. His motto is: let's jump on camera, and if the meeting is 2 hours or
longer, great. This was a little bit of a culture shock for the Psychology Department.
"...we are looking forward to new
opportunities, new growth, new
experiences and to an equally
good or even more exciting ride."
I will miss working and
hanging out with the MFT and MSW teams!
Over the years, I learned to appreciate James' leadership and leadership style very
much. James, you really brought us together while keeping space for individual
identities. Here is a statement a psychology faculty member shared: "the leadership
shown by Dr. Billings in making us all feel a part of the group and the way that we have
always been treated as a valued department.
I wholeheartedly agree.
I truly appreciate the years we had together. I treasure the opportunity to have gotten
to know the MFT team and to have worked and grown with you. I call some of your
friends, and I've learned from all of you. All in all, I would say it was a great ride and
now we are looking forward to new opportunities, new growth, new experiences, and
to an equally good - or even more exciting ride.
