In June 2015, NCU launched a
new version of the post-course
survey. Thirty questions ask
students to rate their readiness
for the course (desire, effort);
their achievement in the course
(increase in skills); their
satisfaction with the course
design and materials; and their
experience of the faculty
instructor. These are rated on a
5-point scale (1=strongly
disagree, 5=strongly agree).
Three additional questions
gauge the student's overall
satisfaction with the course which are
answered "yes" or "no". The tables
presented here give you an overview of
how each department scored, on average,
across the first three quarters of this year.
Faculty will soon begin receiving
quarterly summaries of the post-course
surveys completed by their students in
each course. The report will contain
average scores and comments but will
only be generated if five or more students
in each course complete the survey during
the quarter.
According to Associate Director of
Institutional Assessment, Charlene Lalli, the survey response rates for each department are as follows:
MFS 31%; PSY 26%; SBTM 18%; and EDU 22%. Please encourage students to complete the
post-course survey and let them know that their feedback matters. Consider adding some language to
your welcome letter and perhaps reminding students as the course wraps up. It is important that you
clarify that the post-course survey only be completed after the student has submitted their last
assignment.
