Greetings! I hope you had a great start to the year. I have some very exciting news to share. On March 3, 2017, the Department of Education approved three new Master of Science (MS) programs in the Department of Psychology: • Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology • Master of Science in Health Psychology • Master of Science in Child and Adolescent Developmental Psychology We are very excited! These new MS programs will provide students, at the culmination of their academic journey, a choice between a capstone and an internship course. These programs are 30-credit hour programs, and students take 10 courses. During the internship, students complete approximately 100 hours of working in the field of either industrial and organizational psychology, health psychology or child and adolescent developmental psychology. This field experience provides students with the opportunity to apply what they have learned in their studies, and develop real-world applicable skills to prepare for work in the field. The three new MS programs will be launched in June 2017 in our new learning platform, NCUOne. In addition, in 2017, we are planning the development of an additional Master of Science program- an MS in Educational Psychology. With these new MS programs, we are greatly strengthening our program offerings at the master's level. We are also welcoming a new full-time professor, Dr. Michelle Ackerman. Dr. Ackerman served for many years as an adjunct professor, and last year she received the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award. In her new appointment, Dr. Ackerman will mainly work with dissertation students, and teach research courses and the pre-candidacy prospectus course. Welcome Dr. Ackerman! I am looking forward to an exciting 2017! Bettina Shapira, PhD | Chair, Department of Psychology
