Greetings! Our last newsletter referenced the AAMFT Conference as something that was coming in the future – it is here! We have so many things happening in the Department at this time. It is a very exciting time to be a part of the largest MFT program in the world! The transition to NCUOne has now occurred for the Depart- ment of Marriage and Family Sciences (DMFS). Thanks to each of you for your patience as that process has unfolded and is unfolding! You have worked to ensure that students continued to have an effective learning experience even when things have been frustrating at times. Thanks to Mindi for her tireless efforts to support all of us as we learn to use this new learning management system. We would be lost without her guidance!! We held a Mock Site Visit on 10/4/17 in Atlanta. Details of this visit will be provided I the next newsletter. Faculty, students, clinical supervisors and administrators participated. The site visit was led by Dr. Bobbi Miller. Like the filming that was accomplished in Scottsdale in the summer, we filmed additional videos in conjunction with the AAMFT Conference in Atlanta. The creative production team, led by Doug MacLeod was there to record lectures (and one role-play) about the field of MFT, models of MFT, postmodernism and social constructionism and treatment planning. We did both video and audio recording of the lectures. There were two days of filming and many of our faculty were creators of the content and the lecturers and role players. No doubt, the outcome will be more exceptional content, like that produced in Arizona! We also had the opportunity to participate with each other and students during the AAMFT Conference in Atlanta. There were events that brought us all together to share a connection as professional colleagues. The Mock Site Visit is the prelude for the actual COAMFTE Reaccreditation Site Visit that will be held on November 6 and 7 in Scottsdale. Again, faculty, students, clinical supervisors and administrators will participate in interviews with the Site Visit Team. The team consists of: • Dr. Glad Topham – Chair • Dr. Kristina Brown – Site Visitor • Dr. Rene Jones – Site Visitor Darren Adamson, PhD Chair Department of Marriage and Family Sciences Thanks to Lisa for structuring the process and providing us with preparation materials and processes for this important reaccreditation step. There have been some changes in the faculty since the last newsletter. It seems that change is constant, as are the mixed feelings (sad to see colleagues go but celebrating the new opportunities they have). We recognize with gratitude the contributions of the follow- ing full-time faculty who have made some changes: • Liz Fawcett took a full-time, tenure-track position at Utah Valley University and she will continue on as an adjunct professor • David Fawcett took a very interesting position at Brigham Young University that allows him to utilize his MFT training and technology background and he will continue as an adjunct professor • Nichola Ribadu took a position as Director of the DMFT program at Loma Linda University We congratulate each of them and are excited with them for these new adventures! We welcome the following faculty who have joined us as full-time teaching and administrative faculty: • Shay Thomas has returned (she was a teaching faculty) and will be in the role of Director of Clinical Training • Elizabeth Banks, who has been an adjunct faculty has joined the full-time faculty as a Research and Dissertation faculty We welcome the following new adjunct faculty to the DMFS since the last edition of the newsletter. A warm welcome to the following colleagues: • Darren Moore • Racine Henry We are pleased to have such highly qualified faculty in the DMFS. It is the effort of each of you that creates the success of the Department and supports the success of our students. Thanks to each of you for your extraordinary work!
