MASTER'S PROGRAMS Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT) Available Specializations: • General Family Therapy • Child and Adolescent Family Therapy • Couple Therapy • LGBTQ Couple and Family Therapy • Medical Family Therapy • Military Family Therapy * Students seeking licensure may be required by their state to complete up to 60 credit hours, which could equate up to 20 courses. For example, the MAMFT - California Licensure Track program requires 60 credit hours. Our Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy program was the first distance-based master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy program to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). Our MAMFT program provides rigorous training to help graduates develop into competent, ethical, culturally sensitive and licensable marriage and family therapists who make a difference in their communities. Through this program, students will be prepared to develop the skills, and personal and professional growth that are required for effective practice in the field of marriage and family therapy. Students will critically analyze a broad range of theories and practical knowledge in MFT. Degree requirements also include involvement in ongoing, supervised clinical work. This training prepares students for therapeutic work in a variety of settings including mental health centers, public service agencies, correctional institutions, industry, medical settings, and private practice. The Student Learning Outcomes of the MAMFT program are: • Students will employ competence in working with diverse populations in clinical settings. • Students will apply family systems- oriented clinical skills across a variety of contexts. • Students will contrast family systems theory oriented models of therapy. • Students will formulate a decision-making process for ethical dilemmas congruent with the AAMFT Code of Ethics.
