As the Chair of the Department of Psychology at Northcentral University, I would like to extend a warm welcome. I am glad you are considering joining this premier university community. NCU was founded in 1996 with two academic departments, including Psychology. We have grown over the years, and continue our mission to prepare the next generation of experts in their fields. At NCU, we offer a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology. We invite you to learn more about our programs as you explore this Viewbook. In 2017, we are offering Master of Arts degrees in a variety of specializations and a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology. In addition, we offer Master of Science degrees in areas such as Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology, Health Psychology, and Child and Adolescent Developmental Psychology. We are excited about our new Master of Science degrees. These non-clinical programs, which include internship options, help prepare students to apply psychological principles in a variety of settings and equip them to work within the justice system, with law enforcement, the courts, corrections, schools, nonprofit and for-profit businesses and child care centers, youth centers, HR departments, consulting firms, and wellness clinics; depending on the field of expertise. In the Department of Psychology, we offer PhD programs in eight different specializations. Our doctoral programs prepare students to become independent scholars who will greatly contribute to expanding the knowledge base in the field of psychology. We offer students great access to our faculty and maintain an open door policy. Through these pages, you will have the opportunity to meet some of our professors, as well as graduates, and learn more about their experiences at NCU. We look forward to welcoming you to Northcentral University as you embark on your educational journey. We are committed to preparing you for your career in psychology and related professions. Sincerely, Bettina Shapira, PhD Chair, Department of Psychology School of Social and Behavioral Sciences CHAIR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY 6
