School of Health Sciences (SHS) The School of Health Sciences (SHS) integrates Inter-Professional Education (IPE) and collaborative practice into each academic program. As the complexity of issues affecting patients' health increases, SHS is dedicated to preparing students who are highly competent and skilled at collaborating with others in the field to address patient and industry needs. School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SSBS) The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SSBS) is a multi-disciplinary school currently consisting of two departments. The Department of Marriage and Family Sciences, which houses the Marriage and Family Therapy programs and the Department of Psychology, which houses the Psychology programs. Department of Marriage and Family Sciences (DMFS) The Department of Marriage and Family Sciences (DMFS) supports Northcentral's Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) programs that emphasize a systems theory orientation to treat individuals, couples, families, and groups that struggle with mental and emotional disorders, as well as a wide range of behavioral and relationship problems. Students in the Master's degree program complete a 52-week practicum and internship sequence that includes direct client contact and supervision in their local area. Students in the doctoral programs complete both a 12- week practicum course and a 9-month doctoral internship. The University offers the world's first distance-based COAMFTE-accredited Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT) degree and the first and only distance- based COAMFTE- accredited Doctor of Philosophy in Marriage and Family Therapy (PhD MFT). Department of Psychology (DOP) The University's DOP delivers educational opportunities that help students acquire the knowledge, skills, practical application, and values integral to the field of Psychology. School of Technology (ST) Technical fields emerge and change with greater rapidity than any other industry. In our commitment to providing students the best educational experience, the School of Technology is constantly monitoring changes in the market and adjusting our curricula to ensure programs are always focused on industry-relevant topics, required skills, policy, and best practices. This market and industry-focused approach allows our students to gain knowledge that is immediately applicable to associated positions in business and industry. The Graduate School (GS) The Graduate School (GS) supports graduate culture by offering research opportunities, awards, and honorariums for faculty, students, and staff. In addition, the GS houses a Grants Office to promote faculty, staff, and student scholarship and research activities. The GS also supports and coordinates institutional accreditation efforts.
