38 | Faculty Non-Teaching Roles and Responsibilities | NCU Faculty Handbook Academic Integrity (for faculty) Northcentral University's reputation depends on an uncompromising commitment to standards of academic integrity. The University's Academic Integrity policy, to which all students and faculty members are bound, is available in the Catalog and in the University Services Module in NCUOne. Faculty and students are expected to follow the highest standards of professional ethics, intellectual honesty, and academic integrity. All work submitted to a faculty member is subject to originality confirmation. Faculty members have the responsibility to reject work that fails to meet the standards outlined in the Academic Integrity policy and any course academic integrity guidelines. Plagiarism, misrepresentation, or fabrication of information or research results will not be tolerated and may be grounds for immediate dismissal. Faculty Engagement: The Commons As a member of the NCU Community any faculty member at any time can engage and participate in the Commons communities. Faculty do have some basic responsibilities of reviewing their daily summaries for school updates and updating their profile in the Commons. Faculty can also take on a more active role as a school ambassador, a group steward or as a group key contributor to a Commons community. By taking on one of these roles faculty may be able to meet their committee, SME or faculty development obligations. School opportunities will vary. The responsibilities of these roles are outlined in the addendum on Commons Role and Responsibilities. Faculty interested in a more active role in the Commons should: • Work with the School Commons Ambassador to identify an opportunity within their school or across NCU to either steward or become a key contributor to a community. • Seek approval from the Assistant Dean of Faculty to use an opportunity in the Commons to meet one of their faculty obligations. • Attend an onboarding training for all stewards and key contributors on developing community online. • Meet the role responsibilities outlined in the addendum. The Commons team provides faculty with initial onboarding and ongoing support and will provide the school with a steward engagement and community usage report. The school reviews and approves requests, assesses steward engagement and opportunities. Additional Faculty Contributions Participation in Webinars. The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) holds webinars on important issues related to teaching and learning at Northcentral. Faculty members are encouraged not only to attend, but also to participate. Faculty should participate by contributing to the discussion and occasionally presenting webinars. Mini-courses The CTL works with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to help create "Mini Courses" - short, self-paced courses that promote faculty development. The objective of these courses is to give our faculty a quick way to refine or refresh their knowledge on a variety of topics related to working with. Mini-courses promote a positive experience with students and their dissertation committees and builds on the NCU values of Excellence and Accountability. Faculty will work closely with an Instructional Designer in the CTL.
