Sessions are led by experienced NCU Faculty. Students are able to develop cohort relationships with their peers and interact in both formal and informal sessions with faculty and students. Technical Support-IT Service Desk The University provides faculty with 24-hour, 7-day-a-week technical support. Northcentral University Library The Northcentral University Library is committed to supporting the academic and research needs of students, alumni, faculty, and staff. The Library provides access to scholarly, high-quality academic resources and services, including databases, reference and interlibrary loan services, and information literacy instruction. Faculty and students can access the library at https://library.ncu.edu/ or in NCUOne. Detailed information about Library services is outlined below. General Services Provided by the Library • Research Databases – The Library subscribes to a variety of databases that contain scholarly, peer-reviewed journals, magazines, newspapers, e- Books, dissertations, reports, and other informational sources. Databases are accessible from the A to Z Databases LibGuide at http://ncu.libguides.com/az.php. Students, faculty, and staff must be logged into the NCU Library in order to access database resources. • Research Consultation – The Library offers a research consultation service for students, faculty, and staff. This is an in-depth, customized, one-on-one meeting with a specialist liaison librarian to discuss information resources and search strategies. This service is recommended for students working on either a master's thesis or a doctoral dissertation. Additional information about Research Consultations and access to a "Research Consultation Request Form" may be found on the Library's website. • Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL) – Library patrons needing articles and book chapters not in the Library collection may submit an interlibrary loan request. Patrons can register for the ILL service by clicking the "Request Inter-library Loan Items" link on the Library homepage. Students, faculty, and staff will need to utilize local libraries for print-only materials. • Ask a Librarian – Library reference services are available 24/7 via the "Ask a Librarian" service. "Ask a Librarian" allows patrons to search an ever-expanding knowledge bank of frequently asked Library questions and their responses, conveniently located at the bottom of the blue, left-side tool bar located on every Library Guide. NCU Students, faculty, and staff may also complete an Ask a Librarian Form. Questions are answered promptly during Library Staffed Hours. • Library Workshops – Library patrons may attend live workshops. Library workshops provide in-depth information about using the NCU Library, its resources and services, as well as general information literacy skills. A schedule of events is published on the Library website and student announcement areas. Patrons may register for workshops at the Library Workshops Schedule area, or if attendance to an event is not possible, recorded workshops are available from the Learn the Library page. Students are strongly encouraged to attend or view a Library workshop prior to beginning coursework.
