HOW WE ASSESS CLINICAL READINESS Students are assessed for clinical readiness based on completion of tasks during the Practicum Preparation Process (PPP). Students may not see clients until they have completed these tasks and are enrolled in and attending their weekly NCU Group Practicum or Internship course. Students who see clients without program permission place sites and supervisors at legal risk. The newly revised PPP includes: • Students need to provide 8-10 hours of therapy each week and attend weekly local and NCU group supervision. • Some students secure a supplemental site in order to earn additional hours or to gain experience with a particular client group. • Local supervisors are asked to approve clinical and supervision hours on a weekly basis, as well as complete an evaluation at the end of each course. • Reviewing and verifying understanding of the policies outlined in the Clinical Handbook • Signing the informed consent document for clinical training • Successfully completing all Prerequisite Coursework • Passing the Clinical Readiness Quiz • Passing the HIPAA quiz • Confirming a background check • Providing proof of membership • Meeting the ethics requirement or successfully completing an ethics essay • Submitting verification of Professional Liability Insurance • Signing off on compliance with technology requirements and expectations for Professionalism during clinical training • Obtaining local site and supervisor approval • Completing a Clinical Readiness Interview with the Director of Clinical Training • Participating in a Supervisor Check-in call with the Director of Clinical Field Placements 500 client contact hours are required for graduation, including a minimum of 250 relational hours. All sites must be vetted and approved by the Director of Clinical Field Placements. Students may not count hours provided at an unapproved site. Honest assessments are important for growth and development. Students must meet minimum standards of personal and clinical competence. FRIENDLY REMINDERS
