Good Day to Each of You! There are so many good things happening in the Department of Marriage and Family Science as we finish the first quarter of 2018. The most important of these is the fact that we... all of us... are supporting the success of our students through our efforts at engaging them in a learning process and through providing administrative support. Students are having a lot of success in their courses and in the clinical training portion of the program. Thanks to each of you for your commitment to engage with students in accomplishing that goal! Other initiatives, events and accomplishments so far this year include: • Continued growth in the families of many of our colleagues – we wish those who are having children and those whose children are growing up and those who are welcoming grandchildren the best of all that family life offers. • We have begun the process of adding the amazing proprietary content created in Scottsdale, Atlanta and Fort Lauderdale. There is a group of faculty working on adding content to MFT-5101. Another group of faculty will work on this same effort with MFT-5104 and then MFT-5105. Later in the year, we will begin working on other courses, starting with the clinical courses. • Yulia Watters (Curriculum Director) and Branden Henline (Director of Clinical Field Placements) attended the IFTA conference in Thailand and enjoyed that very much. Yulia was able to do some video recording of multiple sessions at the conference, which we will brand and then use in our curriculum. Thanks Yulia for this idea and for making the arrangements for this initiative. • A number of our faculty are scheduled to present at the 2018 Academic Resources Conference (sponsored by WSCUC) in San Francisco in April. We wish them well as they represent NCU and SSBS. Darren Adamson, PhD | Chair | SSBS Department Updates
