I'm mid-way through my second class and the State Coordinator for Maryland and the District of Columbia. This is my second master's degree and my first experience with distance learning and I admit, as an older student, the transition was tough initially, but I have a schedule now and I stick to it. I work full-time outside of the home and I have a family and having a schedule allows me time for both school and home. The professors at NCU are great and respond promptly to questions. The Skype sessions are new to me, but overall I'm enjoying the experience. The difficulty for me is not having other students to share ideas, thoughts and challenges. In the future, as new students commence the program, I hope the University helps them acclimate by sharing their state coordinators as resources to help them with any questions and to promote the value of student engagement within the program. One way we can engage with one another is through The Commons. You can access it from your student portal or through your NCUOne home page. We encourage each of you to visit both the general group as well as your state's group to interact with other students and faculty in the program. We hope to have the opportunity to speak with more of you throughout the year, to build camaraderie and foster dialogue among all of us. If you've never visited The Commons, please do so. Best regards, Janine Attention students attending graduation Graduation Event for Honor Society members If you are a Delta Kappa Honor Society Member keep an eye out for the graduation event!
