6 Dr. Asha Sutton, LMFT Program Director Dr. Asha B. Sutton is a licensed marriage and family therapist in the states of Illinois and Michigan and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. She has been with NCU's Department of Marriage and Family Sciences since 2014. During this time, she has provided distance-based instruction and clinical supervision to MFT trainees in both the MFT masters and doctoral programs. Dr. Sutton approaches her work using a culturally-informed framework. It is through her work that she seeks to conceptualize and analyze challenges in a manner that acknowledges, advances, and incorporates concepts of social justice and equity. NCU provides educational opportunities that, in many cases, students would not otherwise have the ability to access. The MAMFT Program is a minority majority serving program, meaning the majority of NCU students identify as being part of a minority group. In her newest role as the program director, Dr. Sutton plans to incorporate a greater emphasis on training MFTs to be culturally competent and to integrate cultural humility into their clinical approaches. Additionally, Dr. Sutton would like to formally establish a pipeline of approved supervisors in order to support the systemic training of enrolled MFT students. This will include partnering with the MFT doctoral program as well as cultivating a culture that not only encourages master level students to obtain licensure, but also pursue their approved supervisor credentials. She is excited to be in her new role and looks forward to further strengthening the training experience of the MAMFT Program. Dr. Cassandra Lettenberger-Klein, LMFT Clinical Director Dr. Cassandra Lettenberger-Klein is a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Georgia. She relocated with her family to Ohio earlier in the year and will be pursuing licensure there, as well. She has been with NCU's Department of Marriage and Family Sciences since 2014. During this time, she has provided distance-based instruction in the doctoral programs as a Dissertation Chair and clinical supervision to masters' students. She embraces NCU's teaching through engagement model and enjoys finding new ways to connect with students using technology. Dr. Lettenberger-Klein brings energy and enthusiasm to the position, with a desire to work collaboratively with stakeholders, including administrators, faculty, local supervisors, and students. In thinking about the future of NCU's MFT clinical experience, Dr. Lettenberger-Klein hopes to continue to identify new ways of supporting students during this stage of their program. Currently, she is working on creating a non- credit clinical resource support course that students will have access to after they complete their first four didactic courses. She is looking forward to what the future holds for the NCU MFT program! There have been some recent changes in the leadership positions at NCU, and we are proud to introduce you to our promoted team members! PROGRAM INFORMATION
