3 Lisa Rucker, PhD Part-Time Facult y, Department of Psychology Dr. Rucker was delighted to begin teaching at NCU in January 2020. She earned her PsyD in clinical psychology from Georgia School of Professional Psychology in 2006. In 1996, she received her BA in psychology with a minor in women's studies from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She also completed a post-doctoral internship at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts. Upon completion of her PsyD, Dr. Rucker began her career with VA Comprehensive Homeless Center in Fort Worth, Texas. In addition to her clinical practice, she has over 15 years of experience in online education. She loves teaching and finding new ways to engage her students. Dr. Rucker teaches a wide range of courses at NCU, including two courses she developed for the Master of Science in Sport Psychology program (PSY 6908 and PSY 6911). One of her favorite courses is Foundations for Doctoral Study in Psychology, as she enjoys serving as a mentor at the beginning of the life-changing journey to enter a doctoral program. In addition, during the pandemic, she appreciates the opportunity to facilitate weekly support groups for NCU students and staff. Dr. Rucker has lived in seven states, but considers the Midwest to be her home. She was born and raised in the small town of Newton, Iowa, and enjoys visiting her family farm and taking her daughters to the Iowa State Fair. Dr. Rucker and her husband Nathan currently live in North Barrington, Illinois, with their two daughters, Anna (13) and Georgia (11); Millie the pug; and Fluffy the cat. Dr. Rucker enjoys boating, reading, traveling, cooking, and volunteering for her daughters' schools in her free time. This year, she was honored to be recognized as the school district's volunteer of the year for her efforts to create virtual opportunities for students during the pandemic. Faculty SPOTLIGHT
