Yulia Watters, PhD | Curriculum Director, SSBS
This is a busy time in curriculum development. In line with the ongoing transition to
NCUOne, the standards of the course development process were reviewed and clarified to
ensure we are producing engaging courses for our students, and optimizing the learning
process between students and faculty. This is the "major uplift" to which Dean Billings
referred. Here is what is currently happening in the MFS and PSY departments regarding the
uplift projects:
• Three courses in each program (MAMFT, PhD MFT, DMFT, MAPSY, and PhD PSY) were
chosen to go through the uplift
• assignments are reviewed to add additional features such as social media (Facebook,
LinkedIn, and Twitter)
• assignments are being designed to be more interactive and the course materials more
engaging by including audio and video presentations by faculty
Faculty are actively engaged in the uplift project, and their help is invaluable in this process.
This is a collaborative process between the School and the Instructional Design Department,
where the faculty bring the content knowledge which is complemented by the technological
advances brought to our attention by the ID Team. A series of kick-off meetings took place in
the end of February and beginning of March to start the process.
In the process of the uplift, the courses are also reviewed regarding multimedia inclusion
and ADA compliance. YouTube videos are replaced by internal resources, and resources
from the NCU Library.
