Department Updates Greetings. I hope you are enjoying the summer! It is time for some new Department updates. As mentioned in the previous updates, in March of this year we received approval from the Department of Education to launch the following programs: • Master of Science in Industrial/Organizational Psychology • Master of Science in Health Psychology • Master of Science in Child and Adolescent Developmental Psychology We launched the programs in mid-June, and we already have students in all three programs. In December 2016, we launched the Master of Science in Forensic Psychology program. We already have 45 students in this program, with one student being in the sixth course. All of this is very exciting! We just received approval for a change in the research sequence for our PhD programs. With the exception of the PhD in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology, we reduced the number of research courses from seven to five and changed PSY7105, the Test and Measurement course, from a research course to a required content course and added an elective course to the programs. The only change that was made for the PhD in Industrial /Organizational Psychology is the change in PSY7105 to a content course. Bettina Shapira, PhD | Chair, Department of Psychology We are very happy about this change and think that the new research sequence will prepare our students well for the dissertation, and also provide some additional flexibility in the program. I don't want to forget to mention this year's Symposium and graduation. The graduation was wonderful. If you didn't have the chance to be there in person or watch the live feed, you can still find the link to the broadcast on Twitter. The Symposium was very informative. In the University sessions we discussed, amongst other topics, the move to NCUOne, faculty- student engagement, and defining and measuring authentic curriculum. One item that I hope all are happy about is the new adjunct compensation and tier ranks. I am personally delighted for the additional recognition of our adjunct faculty. All of you are doing such a good job and this is well deserved. On Friday afternoon of the Symposium, we held our Department breakout session, where we mainly discussed the non-clinical internship for our MS programs with our PAC members. It was a very informative session. Thanks to each of you, for all the support and engagement you provide for our students. Because of your commitment and involvement, this is a great Department and a great place for our students to learn and grow. Thank you!
